ALIPHERUS

ΑΛΙΦΗΡΟΣ

One of the sons of Lycaon, killed by Zeus with a flash of lightning for their insolence. (Apollod. iii. 8. § 1.) The town of Aliphera or Alipheira in Arcadia was believed to have been founded by him, and to have derived its name from him. (Paus. viii. 3. § 1, 26. § 4; Steph. Byz. s. v. Alipheira.)
