ΙΠΠΟΘΟΩΝ

An Attic hero, a son of Poseidon and Alope, the daughter of Cercyon. He had a heroum at Athens; and one of the Attic phylae was called after him Hippothoontis. (Demosth. Epitaph. p. 1389; Paus. i. 5. § 2, 39. § 3, 38. § 4.)
